Light your space, not your budget

Retail lighting shapes how products look and how stores feel – and modern LED store lighting cuts energy use by up to 50% while doing it. Good retail lighting is planned: lux levels per zone, colour rendering (CRI 90+) where product colour matters, accents on hero products. We handle lighting plans, fixtures and electrician coordination.

Lighting is the cheapest premium experience upgrade

Customers don’t notice good lighting. They notice bad lighting – products looking off-colour in the bag at home, fitting rooms that flatter no one, supermarket aisles that feel grim. The retailers who get lighting right look more premium for less money than retailers who try to compensate with fixtures and finishes. And modern LED makes the energy savings genuinely meaningful – half the running cost of older systems isn’t unusual.

What modern LED lighting delivers

Design, supply, install - under one roof

Most lighting projects bounce between an architect, a fixture supplier, and an electrician – and the customer ends up coordinating. We do all three, so the lighting that gets installed is the lighting that was designed.

Where lighting changes the experience

Retail floor & merchandising

Accent lighting on hero products, ambient lighting on the broader floor. Beam angles and colour temperature matched to product category – fashion needs different light than electronics.

The single most important lighting moment in any fashion store. Flattering, accurate-colour lighting that looks like daylight. Get this wrong and customers don’t buy.

Layered lighting for lobbies, restaurants, bars. Daypart-driven dimming so the same space feels different at lunch vs dinner. Mood without the energy bill.

Tunable white that shifts colour temperature across the day, supporting alertness in the morning and calmer light in the afternoon. Particularly relevant for spaces without natural daylight.

High-bay LED with motion sensors – lights only on where work is happening. Energy savings are dramatic compared to older fluorescent systems running 24/7.

Storefront, signage, parking, walkways. IP-rated outdoor LED, dawn-to-dusk control, integrated with our outdoor signage where relevant.

When lighting repays itself - the energy math

Replacing older lighting with modern LED isn’t only a design upgrade – it’s an energy decision. Typical paybacks based on what you’re upgrading from:

Sustainability that holds up to audit

Lighting is one of the easiest places to find genuine ESG progress in a retail estate. We document the energy reduction per site, support CDP reporting, and feed energy data into PRIME for ongoing tracking. Half the energy use is a real claim when you have meter data to back it up – we make sure you do.

From lighting design to commissioned install

A single store lighting upgrade typically takes 4–8 weeks from survey to commissioned install. Multi-store rollouts run in parallel and we schedule around opening hours – most install happens evenings or during refurbishment windows.

Common questions

Can we keep our existing fixtures?

Sometimes – if they’re recent, commercial-grade, and the design fits. Often the better answer is “some yes, some no” – keep the architectural fixtures, replace the older spots and linear lighting where the energy and quality gains are biggest.

If the design is right, yes. CRI 90+ means products look the colour they actually are – important for fashion, food, beauty, anywhere colour matters. Older fluorescent and early LED often had CRI around 70–80, which makes things look subtly off.

Usually yes – modern LED retrofits are designed for existing 230V infrastructure. New control systems (DALI, wireless dimming) sometimes need additional wiring, but it’s typically minor.

We dispose of replaced fixtures responsibly – recycling where possible, proper handling of any older fittings containing regulated materials. ESG documentation included.
